C Stable Maps: Examples without Saddles
نویسنده
چکیده
We give here the first examples of C structurally stable maps in manifolds of dimension greater than one that are not diffeomorphisms nor expanding. It is shown that an Axiom A endomorphism all of whose basic pieces are expanding or attracting is C stable. A necessary condition for the existence of such examples is also given.

Universal behavior in the parametric evolution of chaotic saddles.
Chaotic saddles are nonattracting dynamical invariant sets that physically lead to transient chaos. As a system parameter changes, chaotic saddles can evolve via an infinite number of homoclinic or heteroclinic tangencies of their stable and unstable manifolds. Based on previous numerical evidence and a rigorous analysis of a class of representative models, we show that dynamical invariants suc...
متن کاملCycling chaotic attractors in two models for dynamics with invariant subspaces.
Nonergodic attractors can robustly appear in symmetric systems as structurally stable cycles between saddle-type invariant sets. These saddles may be chaotic giving rise to "cycling chaos." The robustness of such attractors appears by virtue of the fact that the connections are robust within some invariant subspace. We consider two previously studied examples and examine these in detail for a n...
متن کاملPartial Hyperbolicity and Specification
We study the specification property for partially hyperbolic dynamical systems. In particular, we show that if a partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism has two saddles with different indices, and the stable manifold of one of these saddles coincides with the strongly stable leaf, then it does not satisfy the specification property.
متن کاملTopological dynamics of generic piecewise continuous contractive maps in n dimensions
We study the topological dynamics by iterations of a piecewise continuous, non linear and locally contractive map in a real finite dimensional compact ball. We consider those maps satisfying the “separation property”: different continuity pieces have disjoint images. The continuity pieces act as stable topological manifolds while the points in the discontinuity lines, separating different conti...
متن کاملControl landscapes for two-level open quantum systems
A quantum control landscape is defined as the physical objective as a function of the control variables. In this paper the control landscapes for two-level open quantum systems, whose evolution is described by general completely positive trace preserving maps (i.e., Kraus maps), are investigated in details. The objective function, which is the expectation value of a target system operator, is d...
